There is no more time for this world of crime.
The pollution has ruined a thoughtful mind-
Caving in our society, retribution is the new policy-
But what happens to all the children who can’t afford to play?
We have torn down the walls of nature but, there is a price to pay.
Tell me where did we go wrong?
The Earth was screaming all along.
We blocked our ears and closed our eyes-
Now we must face our demise.
I see the rivers run a shade of red-
From all the pain and innocent dead.
Our war has become out of control-
We ruin people, the earth, and our own.
We expect to win at this game of life-
But what happens when we can’t survive?
Tell me where did we go wrong?
The Earth was screaming all along.
We blocked our ears and closed our eyes-
Now we must face our demise.
The day we see the world is gone-
There is no more time to be told we were wrong.
It was too little too late, Mother Earth can’t wait, can’t wait.
She has shown us once before-
We heard her knocking at the door.
We saw the waves tear apart our lives-
Now beneath the rubble, we must rise.

A beautiful and very relevant poem, if not a bit hopeless. Do you think, at this point in time, there’s nothing we can do to save the Earth? Maybe not in our current political climate, but if we follow the scientists’ plans, I think we won’t have to face our demise.
I do believe there is a lot that can be done, but the amount of destruction we have already caused may not all be reversible or “fixable”. If we start being more environmentally conscious individually, maybe we can make a difference together.
